In honor of Earth Day, we wanted to share a blog about the importance of sustainability and give you ways you and your business can be more sustainable.

Let’s get to it!

First, we want to explain the importance of making your business as sustainable as possible. Businesses usually have a large, negative environmental impact since they have to produce and ship out so much, but yours doesn’t have to! There are many ways you could make your business greener and there’s no time like the present to get started. Customers are also more likely to respect and acknowledge your business if your business is greener than your competitors. Now is the time for your business to become part of the solution by cutting down on emissions and waste, creating a healthier and more liveable planet!

Below are some tips on making your business a green business:

  1. Recycle. Recycling is one of the best known and easiest ways to help the planet. Since businesses tend to use up more supplies than the average person, being sure to recycle whatever you can can make a big difference. As always, make sure to check and see what you can and can’t recycle!
  2. Use sustainable products in your office. Nowadays, there are so many greener, cleaner options for most products. Switching to recycled printer paper or green cleaning products can make a big difference.
  3. Use sustainable materials to create your products. Like the brands Shore Buddies and GSA, using eco-friendly materials in your products helps the planet in a big way. Look for recycled products or natural materials that are compostable.
  4. Use sustainable packaging. Packaging is a major part of business and the materials add up quickly. Recycled paper and cardboard are tried and true sustainable packaging options.
  5. Offer remote work. If employees work remotely, they won’t have to commute or us up energy at an office. This will help reduce the overall carbon footprint.
  6. Buy carbon offsets. Carbon offsets help neutralize carbon and limit carbon emissions where you can’t make changes in other parts of your business.
  7. Partner with green businesses. Supporting green businesses will help them grow and make a difference! Try to do as much business with green businesses as possible.

Until next time, let us know if you have any questions or comments below!

Now get out there and help save the planet!
